Mike's Comics
Mike's Comics is a fictional brick and mortar comic books store named after a friend. It's well established locally and looking to scale.
Why this Demo?
- I wanted a tangible example of the kind of service I can provide. This endeavor helped tremendously in clarifying what my keystone offering even is. Since I like comics, I generated a batch of sales transactions, ran an analysis on it and wrote the report.
-
This exercise has helped me frame the basic skeleton I intend to use
to help people either identify or solve whatever problem they might
have.

Generating And Going Through The Data
I want to generate the data for the demos I make. That's part of the learning process. Due my goals and the timing with which I wanted to accomplish them, I had to make some sacrifices.
Generating transactions that look similar to what an actual comic book store would have in their system was far too complex for the time I alotted myself
The data schema I ended up using was quite simple, but offered enough opportunity for interesting things to show up in the data.

Changelog
-
2025.07.11 - v1.3: I updated the graphics for Weekly Momentum section but in the process exposed a flaw in the report.
I never filtered out store credit from the numbers.
I could either update the graphics now or recalculate all the numbers without store credits. I chose the former. I'll redo all the math later. - 2025.07.02 - v1.2: Extended area on page so I can fit more text in, also changed the KPI cards to unify the font everywhere.
- 2025.06.29 - v1.0 of the weekly business pulse published. Keeping it here for posterity. "How it started."
